The brighter the sunlight the darker the lens automatically becomes. These lenses cover categories 1, 2 and 3. In the lightest state the lens has a light transmission of 85%, in full sunshine the light transmission is only 17%. BBB photochromic lenses change from light brown to dark gray, in only 8 seconds
